Is there a "right camp" and a "wrong camp" in discussing whether ChatGPT is actually intelligent?

Simply stating that "GPT learned logic. Period." does not make the statement true, per se.

This is looking more like a shouting match between people that have different religions: "MY God is the only REAL God!" "No! MINE is the only TRUE God!"

Can LLMs be useful? Sure!

Are they foolproof? Certainly not.

Can they replace humans? For specific tasks, they can.

Beware the hype. ChatGPT reminds me of GPS: it works well 98% of the time... and if you trust it 100%, you may get yourself killed rather quickly.

Fortunately, people don't trust GPS blindly. There is human override that allows you to realize when NOT to follow the GPS and drive onto a closed road or off a cliff.

It's worth considering the very human emotions behind the discussion about AI. Why do some AI advocates behave as if they are waging a holy war to prove that it really is absolutely fantastic? Would it hurt to admit that AI still has important limitations?
